Foundation To Award Heat Alarm Grants

The National Police Dog Foundation is very pleased to announce its first round of K-9 Heat Alarm Grants.

In our April 2017 newsletter, we did a story on the K-9 Heroes who fell during active duty in 2016. Due to an overwhelming response from our readers and supporters, who were appalled by the amount of K-9s that died from heat exhaustion in patrol cars, the Foundation has decided to take immediate action and help by providing grants for heat alarms.

The National Police Dog Foundation is very pleased to announce the K-9 Heat Alarm Fund, which will immediately fund five Heat Alarm Grants to law enforcement agencies with the hope that we can bring enough awareness to the issue, that one day every K-9 patrol car will be outfitted with a device.

We are initiating this Heat Alarm Grant Campaign with five grants, but thousands are needed.

How will the heat alarms help? When temperatures get too hot in the vehicle the Heat Alarms can automatically:

  1. activate the patrol car’s siren and light bar

  2. roll down the back windows

  3. notify the handler on a beeper or on their cell phone

  4. alarms come with dual sensors to average the heat in the vehicle

  5. alarms come with hot and cold alerts

…alarms can even be coupled with automatic door openers for a quick release of the K-9.

Summer is just starting. The K-9s and handlers need your help. Please help save K-9s’ lives now!

We welcome and encourage grant applications from all law enforcement agencies in the United States.

The National Police Dog Foundation is proud to grant funds and services that support law enforcement agencies, handlers, and K-9s.

Grant application deadline for these initial grants is July 1st, 2017 (NOW CLOSED). No applications will be accepted for the initial round of grants after this date. The first round of five K-9 heat alarm grants will be awarded at the end of July 2017.
